The Governing Body of Kent College is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Julie Lodrick as the new Headmistress from January 2016. Ms Lodrick succeeds Mrs Sally-Anne Huang, who will become Head at James Allen's Girls' School in September, after serving nearly eight years of distinguished and dynamic leadership.

Ms Lodrick is currently Principal of The Mount School in York, a day and boarding school for girls, she has been in post since 2009. Ms Lodrick has had a wealth of experience in independent schools and her previous roles have included Deputy Head, Housemistress and Head of Music. She has practice of working within the Methodist group of schools through her time at Queenswood in Hertfordshire.

The Governors are overjoyed to have found such an appropriate and experienced person to continue the work done by Mrs Huang. Ms Lodrick is fully committed to the school's inclusive and caring ethos, as well as the pursuit of academic excellence combined with wide extra-curricular opportunities; she is looking forward to working with the strong team already in place at Kent College.

Ms Julie Lodrick, commented "I am delighted to have been appointed as the next Headmistress of Kent College Pembury. It is a wonderful school where the girls are nurtured and given every opportunity to excel and fulfil their potential. I am looking forward to working with the staff and governors to lead the school through the next stage of its development, building on its recent successes. Most important of all, I look forward to meeting the girls and becoming a part of the vibrant Kent College community'.

Mr Edmund Waterhouse, Chairman of the Kent College Governing Body, explained "I am pleased to welcome Julie Lodrick to the Headship of Kent College Pembury. The school has gone from strength to strength under the leadership of Sally-Anne Huang, and it is fitting that her successor should already be a serving Head. Julie has a strong record of achievement at her present school, and she has a style of leadership which is well suited to Kent College.

The Governors of Kent College are confident that Julie will take the school into the next stage of its development, building on the considerable legacy of her predecessor, and will carry forward the ethos which has made the school such a strong and popular choice for girls and their parents."

Mrs Sally-Anne Huang, current Headmistress, said "I am thrilled that the governors have been able to appoint an experienced Head to succeed me and know that Julie has a particularly warm and approachable style which will suit the KC girls well. We are both committed to providing the very best for girls, both in and out of the classroom and I look forward to working with her in the months ahead and wish her every happiness in her new role.'
