Published on isbi School News dated Thursday 11th of June 2015

Siofra Boyle and Francis Curran have been appointed as Heads of School at St Benedict’s for the academic year 2015/16 by the Headmaster, Mr Chris Cleugh. Siofra joined St Benedict’s in September 2009, coming in with the second cohort of girls into Form 3 after the school had gone co-educational the previous year. She is studying Spanish, Economics, Philosophy and Ethics, and History and would like to go into the Fashion Industry, hopefully on the business side. One of her key interests is Dance, which she is involved with both in and outside School, together with Singing and Drama. Siofra has taken part in a number of school productions and dance shows. “I love the sense of community at St Benedict’s and the number of opportunities that are created for the students. It is a great privilege to be appointed Head Girl - I hope it will be a successful year.” Francis also studies Economics and Philosophy and Ethics, together with Geography and Maths, and would like to be a Geography teacher. He joined St Benedict’s in Pre-Prep 1 (Reception) in September 2002. Older brother Joseph, now studying Natural Sciences at Cambridge University, was Head Boy two years ago. Francis is Chairman of the School Council and the President of the Sixth Form Society of St Vincent de Paul (SVP). He is going for Gold in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme and is very much involved in music at school, singing in the choir and playing percussion in the orchestra. Outside of school, Francis is a young leader in the Scouts, soon to be an assistant scout leader. “The sense of family and community is constant and powerful at St Benedict’s, whether in school, on a day trip or abroad. Staff and pupils are approachable and everyone is kind and caring and willing to listen to you with your ideas.”
