Published on isbi School News dated Thursday 14th of April 2016

ACG Parnell graduate Hayley Ibold, who received a Top in the World and a Top in New Zealand award, was chosen to speak at the recent Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards. Her top advice is to study what you love - then it doesn’t feel like study and hard work. Hayley has always loved reading and English Literature, to her it was just something she loved to learn about. It’s been this love that has seen her achieve Top in the World status at A Level. She says, “The Cambridge International Examination system really gives you a global perspective. It allows you to take your passions to the world. However, this isn’t the only thing we need to celebrate, we also need to celebrate the people who have inspired us, our role models and our teachers. And, in turn we need to look at how we can inspire others through our success.” It’s been a tidal wave of success for ACG Parnell College in the Cambridge International Examination awards with the school scooping three Top in the Worlds awards, six Top in New Zealand awards and a High Achievement (Top in New Zealand for subjects with low numbers). To put these Top in the World and Top in the Country results in context, last year more than one million students sat Cambridge examinations in more than 10,000 schools in countries around the world, including: the United Kingdom, United States, China, India and Singapore, as well as throughout Europe, South America and the Middle East. Larne Edmeades, Principal, ACG Parnell College says, “Our students set pretty high targets for themselves each year. They track these goals throughout the year and with teacher, parent and peer support they reach their very best potential. For me, that’s what it’s about – enabling students to be their very best”. It’s certainly a philosophy that is working for this school. These significant achievements are across a broad range of subjects including computer science, business studies, classical studies, English literature, Spanish language, biology and accounting. They were also across IGCSE, AS and A levels. - See more at: http://www.acgedu.com/nz/parnell/home/blog/10014-student-success-8/acg-parnell-student-addresses-outstanding-cambridge-learner-awards#sthash.tp4XUTko.dpuf
