GCSE RESULTS SUMMER 2016

Published on isbi School News dated Thursday 25th of August 2016

Following on from their excellent A-level results, Godolphin Salisbury, has returned an impressive set of GCSE results with an increase in the number of girls awarded A* and A grades. “Achieving results above the national average at all pass points is hugely rewarding and a testament to the hard work put in by the students and the staff, and the support received from family and friends” said Mrs Emma Hattersley, Head. “It is always exciting to celebrate those girls who achieve outstanding results, such as Emily Lomas with 13 A*, Flavia Collyer-Powell with 12 A*, Karoline Bech with 11A* and Vanessa Tse and Isobel White with 10 A* each, but we celebrate each and every girl’s results, and particularly those, for example, who might have been predicted a C, but eventually achieved a B”, she said. “It’s the personal triumphs that matter most.” The girls at Godolphin did exceptionally well against the national averages as well as improving on last year’s results (in brackets): Godolphin 2016 National Average A* 37% (36%) 6.5% A* - A 68% (61%) 20.5% A* - B 86% (85%) 41.9% A* - C 96% (95%) 66.9% Mrs Hattersley also noted that apart from their excellent academic results, the girls who wrote their GCSE exams earlier in the summer had been involved in all aspects of the school including drama, art, music, sport and many other co-curricular activities, such as the CCF, Ten Tors Challenge and the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme. “We really do provide a complete education for our girls, not just on the academic front but in the many skills and disciplines required today to ensure success, either at university, college or in the work place” said Mrs Hattersley. Now the focus is on which subjects to study next year in the sixth form. With almost 25 subjects to choose from at Godolphin and reformed subjects providing the additional rigour that comes with a more linear course structure, it has been quite an interesting challenge for our students to refine their choices having achieved so well across such a broad range of subjects. Popular choices remain Maths, the Sciences, Art and Geography.
