Culford Pupils are LTA Regional Champions

On Friday 18 November, Culford’s Year 10 and 11 boys’ tennis team became South East Regional Champions, at the LTA Regional Finals.

The team of Harry Wendelken (L5), Noah Cutting (U5), Tom Turner (U5), Gordon Loo (L5) and Warok Rai (L5) defeated Bedes School, Eastbourne 10-2, Reeds School, and London 8-4, to win the title.

This was a particularly outstanding achievement for the Culford pupils as it was the first time they have beaten Reeds, the leading tennis school in Great Britain.

Well done to all involved, who have now qualified for the National Finals in Bolton on 10 and 11 December.

The Year 7 8 and 9 boys team were astonishingly close to achieving a double success, losing to Reeds 10-8 in a tie–break shootout in the final after the match finished 6-6, having earlier beaten Parmiter’s School, Watford 10-2.

Congratulations to Derrick Chen, Matthew Gedney, Luke Watson, Seb Koci-Edwards, Ralph Bartlett and Gene Swain.
