Inspirational Author Speaks To Pupils

On Friday 25 November mountaineer, film maker and author Matt Dickinson visited Culford to speak to Third and Fourth Form about his experiences in Antarctica and on Mount Everest.

Fourth Form have been taking part in the Everest Challenge this term in their geography and English lessons, learning about life in Nepal as well as the geography and geology of Everest, and have read Matt’s thrilling adventure novel The Everest Files.

Matt captured the pupils with a fascinating presentation showing the difficulties and challenges of filming in extreme environments, including showing his frostbitten fingers, and just how tough it is to climb Everest.

Amazing photos and video clips along with Matt’s own stories and experiences brought it to life and gave pupils a real understanding of how harsh and dangerous Everest is, but also how beautiful and extraordinary.

We hope to welcome Matt back next year to inspire some more of our pupils.
