Culford Pupils Through to Second Round of the ESU Mace Debating Competition

On Monday 28 November, the Culford Debate Team took part in Round 1 of the ESU Mace debating competition at County Upper School in Bury St Edmunds.

This was the first time the Culford Debate Team had competed in this prestigious national competition and Mary Godfrey (U5) and Luigi Murton (U6) were justifiably a little nervous. This soon changed as Mary (1st Proposition) and Luigi (2nd Proposition & Summary) took the floor to debate the legalisation of physician assisted suicide against an experienced team from King Edwards Grammar School (KEGS).

After 45 minutes of hard-fought debate, we were incredibly pleased and proud to learn that we had come second, beating The Perse and coming closely behind KEGS. Culford will now go through to Round 2.
