Students hit the high notes
ACS Egham International School students travelled to the American School of Dubai last week to participate in the Association for Music in International Schools (AMIS) Middle School Honor Mixed Choir Festival.
Six ACS Egham students, aged 12 and 13, attended the three-day festival. School auditions were held for the six available places, which required two Sopranos, two Altos and two Baritones, with fierce competition for the coveted places.
Irina Walters, Music Coordinator at ACS Egham International School, commented:
“The festival involved rehearsing with guest conductor, Melanie Brink, for three days, culminating in a breathtaking Gala concert. In total, 115 students were present from 18 schools, singing nine songs in six different languages.
“The students had a wonderful time learning new vocal skills, meeting fellow students from across the world, and enjoyed staying with their host families in Dubai.”
ACS Egham has been a member of AMIS for 14 years, and has participated in music festivals worldwide, including Amsterdam, Vienna, Qatar and Beijing.
