St Hilary's Excels in ISI Inspection

St Hilary’s School in Godalming is pleased to announce that it has been awarded `Excellent’ following an ISI (Independent Schools Inspectorate) inspection. The Inspection found that both the quality of the pupils’ academic and other achievements is Excellent and that the quality of the pupils’ Personal Development is Excellent. A further part of the inspection regarding compliance found that St Hilary’s complied with and met the standards for all the requirements and regulations for everything from the curriculum to health and safety, recruitment to governance and safeguarding.

The Inspectors’ findings were supported with comments such as, “pupils across the school have excellent attitudes and are keen and eager learners, in line with the school’s aim of developing a thirst for learning” and additionally “pupils are highly successful in gaining scholarships to their next school, both at the age of seven for the boys and eleven for the girls.”

In qualifying the Personal Development of pupils to be Excellent, the Inspectors stated that pupils of all ages are confident, settled and happy at school and that “pupils leave the school extremely well equipped for the next stage of their education.”

Mrs Jane Whittingham, Headmistress at the independent preparatory school says, “I am delighted that the Inspection report confirms much of what I believe to be the essence of our school. The inspectors recognised that we provide an excellent education as well as an extensive range of opportunities for our pupils. Our thoughtfully structured pastoral system and strong traditional values are important to our ethos and so I am pleased that these have also been highlighted. I am enormously grateful to my colleagues for the consistently high standards that we achieve and to all of the pupils for the part they played in making this such a successful inspection.”

ISI is an independent, government-approved body, which provides objective inspections to safeguard the quality and effectiveness of the education, care and welfare of children in schools.
