Culford Drama Pupils Visit the Royal Opera House

Seventeen drama and dance pupils took part in a trip to The Royal Opera House in Covent Garden this week to see The Royal Ballet perform two new pieces. The first contemporary ballet piece was called ‘After the Rain’ and the second was a new physical theatre contemporary dance piece called ‘Flight Path’ which was based on the current refugee crisis.

Culford’s drama department, along with every secondary school in the country, were invited to enter a ballot and write a rationale explaining the value of physical theatre within the curriculum at the School. Culford were one of a handful of schools to be awarded tickets to this prestigious production.

These pieces of physical dance theatre, choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon and Crystal Pite, were absolutely stunning and it was a privilege to see them performed at The Royal Opera House.
