Culford Tennis Star Selected for the Bahamas Youth Commonwealth Tennis Team

Tom Turner (U5) has recently been selected for the Bahamas Youth Commonwealth tennis team. The event will take place in July where 1300 youth athletes, aged between 14 and 18, will compete.

The Bahamas 2017 Commonwealth Youth Games will be the sixth edition of the Youth Games, which started in 2000. The event enables smaller nations and cities, unable to host a Commonwealth Games, to enjoy the socio-cultural, tourism and other legacy benefits of hosting a major international sporting event. It also provides each nation the opportunity to produce and prepare their next generation of star athletes.

Tom’s name was put forward to the Selection Committee by the local LTA. However, Guernsey can only send a limited number to the Youth Commonwealth Games so Tom had to compete with other sports to gain his place, with his selection confirmed over the Easter break.

Congratulations to Tom and good luck in July.
