Bishop’s Stortford College U16 Girls’ Hockey team won the County Championship on Tuesday 3rd October, at Oaklands College, St Albans. With a dominant display of free flowing passing hockey, the girls won all 6 games, scoring 22 goals and conceding 0. The team comfortably won all their group games: against Hitchin (3-0), Aldenham (8-0), Hockerill (1-0) and Haileybury (3-0). In the semi-finals, the girls won 4-0 against Knights Templar, which put them through to the finals, once again against Haileybury. In the final match, the girls lifted an already high standard of play to dominate the game. Head of Girls’ Hockey at the College, Nick Prowse said, “The confidence with which the girls played was a real delight to see.” Performance Hockey Coach, Kaye Goulding, an international player who joined the College in September commented, “With such a dominant display throughout the day the girls can be rightfully confident of progressing further at the East Qualifying Finals in November”.
