Bishop’s Stortford College Bowled Over!

Published on isbi School News dated Friday 17th of November 2017

Bishop’s Stortford College for the second year running has been named as one of the top 100 schools for cricket by The Cricketer magazine. Launched in 2015, the A-Z guide to cricket’s top 100 schools, The Playing Fields of England, is available in the December issue of The Cricketer from 24th November. Inclusion in this guide, for a second successive year, is an enormous accomplishment for the College which had to compete with 250 other school submissions, from both the independent and state sectors. All submissions were matched against an extensive set of criteria, with the schools chosen having outstanding cricket programmes. Matt Drury, Head of Cricket at the College said, “We’re delighted that the College has once again been recognised as one of the top 100 schools for cricket by The Cricketer magazine; with a record number of schools submitting an entry this year, it makes our inclusion in the list all the more special. Cricketers at the College benefit from the use of our outstanding practice and playing facilities, which allow us to host Hertfordshire CCC matches in addition to our own school fixtures. Our dedicated coaching staff do their utmost to ensure that all cricketers learn to appreciate and enjoy the game, from the girls and boys in the Pre-Prep to our Elite cricketers in the Senior School given equal opportunity to realise their potential.” As well as appearing in print in the world’s No.1 cricket magazine, the guide will be hosted at www.thecricketer.com, and also be made available as a free digital download via The Cricketer app on 24th November.
