Stunning results in 2018 UKMT Challenge demonstrate the breadth and depth of Maths excellence at Woldingham.
Woldingham students have performed extremely strongly in this year’s Intermediate Mathematical Challenge, organised by the UK Mathematics Trust (UKMT); 52 girls in Years 9 to 11 gained certificates that are awarded only to the top 40% of entrants.
An impressive tally of ten students subsequently took part in the prestigious invitation-only higher tier challenges, with Luna Li and Sarah Adegbite awarded Merit in the Olympiad and Kangaroo rounds, respectively.
Head of Mathematics, Mrs Mia Kazi-Fornari, commented:
‘Having ten students progress to the advanced stages is exceptional and gaining merits puts Luna and Sarah into the top 0.1% of elite mathematicians nationally. This is a fantastic example of the breadth and depth of Maths excellence at Woldingham, not to mention Girl Power! I am really proud of them and delighted with their achievements and the hard work and dedication of my department.’ Published: April 25 2018
