Godolphin GCSE results

Published on isbi School News dated Tuesday 28th of August 2018

It has been another excellent year for exam results at Godolphin with the highest A*-B percentage for eight years of 94% (since 2010) and highest A*-C for six years (since 2012). The percentage of A*-B is up 10% compared to Summer 2017 in the face of much uncertainty with new 9-1 graded GCSE qualifications. Overall a third of grades were at A*, 8 or 9 and two thirds at A/7 or above. This is the first year that Godolphin has reported on the new 9-1 graded GCSE courses and we are thrilled to see that 17% of grades were the highest grade 9, which is set higher than the legacy A* grade. In Art, Geography and RS over a third of grades were at the highest grade 9. Nearly one third of students gained five or more A*/8/9 grades Particularly excellent results were returned in Art, Geography, Latin (where all students achieved a grade 7 or above), Religious Studies, Biology, Chemistry, History, Maths, Further Maths and Physics. This shows the tremendous strength of both the Sciences and Humanities at Godolphin. Outstanding individual performances came from Georgina Clark with 11 A*/8/9, 10 A*/8/9 grades for Yolanda Hou, Isobel Horsfield, Cecilia Lockyer (who also achieved six grade 9s) and Vicky Xu. Eight A*/8/9 grades were achieved by Jemima Bryan and Peggy Crowter and seven A*/8/9 by Rosemary Cusack, Man Ke Lou, Taylor Pan and Lucy Pope. At Godolphin we are equally proud of those students who made particularly excellent progress since the start of the Fourth Year, and they are Kitty Atherton, Eleanor Bowron, Summer Cubitt, Melissa Celikcan, Phoenix Ewing, Charlotte Hunt, Elizabeth Lickley, Man Ke Lou, Charlotte Moloney, Millie Pratt, Florence Rowsell, Jessica Rusby, Emilia Scott, Emilia Trotter, Vicky Zu and Tiffany Zheng. After achieving such excellent results, students can now look ahead with confidence as they embark upon their A-level studies. Our state-of-the-art, extensively provisioned Sixth Form study centre provides all the support necessary for girls to achieve their ambitions, from Oxbridge entry through to the world of work and apprenticeships. With 25 subjects to choose from, popular A-level choices look to be Art, Maths, the Sciences and Business. “These results are the culmination of two years of concerted effort from our students. They thoroughly deserve these impressive grades which reflect an enormous team effort. Well done indeed to the students and thank you to our teachers and our supportive parents” said a delighted Head, Emma Hattersley.
