Dauntsey’s Enjoys Stunning Athletics Season
Dauntsey’s has enjoyed another stunning athletics season. The senior girls’ team was undefeated for the third year in a row and 42 pupils represented the Kennet Area at the County Championships, with 13 of them becoming County Champions. From this group, 12 pupils were selected to represent Wiltshire at the South West Championships.
The School has also brought together other athletes this season by hosting the Wiltshire Schools Games, involving some 600 competitors from across the County, The Kennet Area Athletics Trial and the Wiltshire Disability Games. Meanwhile, Lavington Athletics Club and Devizes Running Club train regularly at Dauntsey’s.
Marcus Olsen, Director of Sport at Dauntsey’s, said:
“Our pupils have every opportunity to succeed at athletics. They have the facilities, time and lots of support. But they do have to work at it if they want to improve. Finding that motivation gives them a life lesson that serves them well – persist, do your best and you will earn the rewards.
“This commitment has really paid off - our teams have performed brilliantly at each fixture, against some very tough competition.”
