Pupils’ fintastic swimathon challenge
Sixteen pupils from The Blue Coat School, Birmingham, aged 7 to 10 years have taken to the water for charity. Alex, Archie, Bertie, Harry, Harry, Henry, Jai, Jenson, Lucius, Nico, Remy, Robert, Theo, Vinay, Vivek and Wilf, needed to complete just under 2,000 lengths of the outdoor pool at Edgbaston Priory to replicate swimming the distance of the English Channel. On a cold November afternoon the boys in green assembled poolside ready to take on their swimathon challenge. In under two hours they had clocked up an incredible 1,886 lengths, surpassing their distance target and also smashing their fundraising target to raise £3,119 for BBC Children in Need.
Back at school, further money was raised through a non-school uniform day and lots of activities led by the ninety-seven boys in St. George’s House, who this year, chose Children in Need as their charity appeal for 2019. With money still coming in, a grand total in the region of £7,500 looks set to be achieved and will go a long way to supporting this worthy charity. Well done boys!Published: November 22 2019
