St Margaret's Prep, Calne Choose Rainbow Trust as School Charity
Children aptly dressed in their brightest clothes as they took part in their first fundraising event of the school year to raise money for their chosen charity of the Rainbow Trust.
The pupils at St Margaret’s Prep School in Calne held a whole school charity day, where the pupils wore red and green outfits or Christmas jumpers and a number of stalls and sideshows were set up to raise money.
Headmaster Luke Bromwich led by example by donning his own jazzy festive sweater and other teachers followed his example.
In the evening, a Carol Service was held in the school Chapel and a retiring collection was taken for the charity. So far a total of £1000 has been raised from the two events.
The school has chosen the Rainbow Trust which supports families that have a child with a life threatening or terminal illness. Support workers provide a lifeline for not just the sick child but the whole extended family.
Regional fundraiser Jonny Cowell thanked St Margaret’s for picking the charity and will work with the school to organise events. He said: “When serious illness affects a child, family life is turned upside down and time becomes more precious than ever.
“Rainbow Trust pairs each family with a dedicated expert family support worker to help them face and make the most of each new day.
“The support from St Margaret’s will help us support more families with a terminally ill child in Wiltshire.”
Mr Bromwich said: “This charity seemed like a good fit for St Margaret’s to support in 2019/2020 as it is all about helping families and that is something that is very important to us.” Published: February 10 2020
