St Benedict’s School in Ealing is a Catholic Benedictine independent day school occupying a lovely site in West London, with outstanding sports’ facilities a mile away. The School is now fully co-educational.
The School was founded in 1902. A specifically Catholic and Christian atmosphere is fostered through contact with the monastic community of Ealing Abbey, giving the School its unique Benedictine ethos. In the tradition of St Benedict the School sets out to “teach a way of living”. However, the School welcomes pupils of other denominations and faiths.
These are exciting times at St Benedict’s. In the past five years there has been huge investment in computer technology, science lab refurbishment, provision of a new sports’ pavilion and changing facilities and the building of an extension to the Junior School. On top of this comes the new £6.2 million Cloisters complex, which opened in October 2008. This connects the School across three levels and provides state of the art facilities for Music and Modern Languages, a central multi-purpose hall, a chapel, fourteen extra classrooms and a new School reception and medical facility.
From the Pre-prep department to A Levels and Oxbridge entry the pupils follow a broad range of academic subjects, as well as art, music, drama and sport. There is a rich programme of co-curricular activities with a strong tradition in drama, music, the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme, an Army Cadet Force and over 70 lunchtime or after-school clubs and societies. The School has a very strong sporting tradition.
The basic entry requirement for the Sixth Form is six GCSE passes at grade B or better.
Contact with parents is frequent and regular. Visits to the School are welcome at any time and can be arranged by phoning the School on 020 8862 2254 (Senior School and Sixth Form), 020 8862 2054 (Junior School and Nursery).
