At Wycliffe Preparatory School, the most important thing is that the children are happy – we believe happy children are far more likely to achieve their potential both inside and outside the classroom.
The emphasis is on effort, because if that is right, the achievement will take care of itself. Everyone is encouraged to do their best, whether they are pupils, staff or even the Headmaster.
All children aged 2 to 13 are encouraged to do their best, whether inside or outside the classroom.
At Wycliffe Preparatory School, we care about the development of individual strengths and talents and are active in finding out where these lie in our pupils. Happiness is key to encouraging our pupils to succeed – If they are happy, we can help them to achieve their potential.
There are pupils who find school life challenging and we strive to support them through our excellent SEN provision. We have CReSTeD accreditation which recognises and praises the way we develop the skills of our pupils with specific learning difficulties and support them within the classroom and the larger school environment.
We also have NACE accreditation – recognition of the additional challenge and stimulus we offer to our more able pupils in the classroom or with music, drama, art and sport.
11+ Academic and non-academic awards are available, up to a maximum of 40% reduction on published fees. Means-tested bursaries are available for applicants whose parents genuinely require some financial assistance. There are also special bursaries available for children from HM Forces Families.
Boarding at Wycliffe is great fun and there is a real family atmosphere. The girls’ house, Windrush, is very cosy with colours and furniture chosen by the girls and has a comfortable sitting room with satellite TV, DVD player, board games and computer, kitchen area including resident goldfish and newly refurbished shower facilities.
The boys’ house, Pennwood, is purpose-built, and also has a large common room, computer workroom and games room. Friendly games leagues are arranged, and there is much competition between the boys and the girls.
There is a full weekend programme, with regular trips and fun activities. Both boarding houses are set within the spacious school grounds and take advantage of the outstanding facilities offered at the Preparatory School, which include the tennis courts, astro and extensive games pitches.
