A Word from the Head
An ethos of mutual respect, tolerance and calm self-discipline characterises this beautiful and exceptionally well-resourced day and boarding school that caters for girls from a wide range of ability. At RMS we ensure that the most academically able pupils fulfil their promise but we also enable each and every girl to achieve her full potential, whatever that may be. Girls joining the preparatory department are guaranteed a place in Senior School and all RMS girls are welcome to stay on in the Sixth Form provided a suitable programme of study can be found. We welcome newcomers from maintained and independent schools to our thriving Sixth Form.
The particularly wide range of public examination courses on offer, from Latin to Child Development, meets the needs of all pupils. 30 subject options at A level and excellent careers advice pave the way for success. Each RMS girl is an individual and that unique quality is prized above all in a supportive environment that breeds a healthy self-confidence and high self-esteem.
Boarding thrives at RMS and all day girls belong to a boarding house. Many local girls choose to become boarders as they move up through the School. Weekly boarding is a popular arrangement with many as it meets the needs of modern families. A flexible approach to boarding allows day girls to stay overnight or for short periods of time when parents are away. Accommodation is of a high standard and an exciting range of activities for the boarding community adds to the variety of life at RMS.
Extra-curricular provision is diverse and highly valued; choirs, drama, educational visits at home and abroad enrich the RMS experience. Outstanding sports facilities distinguish this school which sits in 360 acres of parkland and yet conveniently finds itself adjacent to the M25 and within easy reach of London.
RMS is a happy, well-balanced school where staff are dedicated to discovering and cultivating the many and varied talents of each child. Our Value Added scores place RMS in the top 10% of all schools nationally and our AB rate at A level is consistently above 75%, with all girls going onto their university of preference.
