A Word from the Head
A caring, creative, international academic community that empowers, enriches and enables every girl to achieve her best.
The Royal High School Bath is fast becoming a school of choice for boarding and day girls aged 3 to 18. Recognised for outstanding educational achievements, excellent facilities and enriching extra-curricular activities, we focus on individual care and value achievement inside and outside the classroom, inspiring girls to make the most of their unique talents and shine. Our girls have a shared love of learning across a broad range of disciplines and are equally at home brandishing blow torches and rowing for gold, as they are re-living Shakespeare and unravelling algebraic equations. There really is something for everyone.
This all-through, all-round, all-girls education develops the confidence, capabilities and character needed to underpin success at university, throughout careers and in achieving aspirations in every aspect of life. “We have been specialists in girls’ education since 1864 and we have a passionate belief in the pre-eminence of what we offer for girls and young women,” says the Head, Rebecca Dougall. “This is anchored not only in the outstanding examination results that our students routinely achieve but also in the places they take up with confidence at leading UK and overseas universities, with recent courses including Genetics, Architecture, Engineering, Mathematics, Modern and Medieval Literature and Film. This belief is also rooted in the levels of courtesy, collegiality and an unselfconscious mantra of ‘getting stuck in’ that our girls manifest on an hourly basis.”
Our school is perfectly located just a short walk from the vibrant, Bath city centre - the perfect place for girls to live, study, have fun, make friends, enjoy life and develop a global perspective in education. We offer the International Baccalaureate as well as A Levels at our Sixth Form College.
Belonging to the Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST) affords us excellent economies of scale and able to offer an exceptional value, independent education. Our academic standards and the achievements and aspirations of our girls are among the highest in the country and yet our fees are among the lowest.
A range of scholarships and bursaries is available at Years 7, 9 and 12, along with discounts for HM Forces families. If you would like to find out more, or to arrange a private visit, please contact our Registrar, Lynda Bevan. A warm welcome awaits you.
