Albyn School is an independent day School accepting pupils from age 2 to 18 years. Boys and girls are accepted in the Nursery from age 2 years and full day care is available. In August 2008 boys entered the senior school for the first time and in 2013 the senior school will be fully co-educational.
Pupils are prepared for Scottish Certificate for National Qualifications at Standard, Higher and Advanced Higher grades.
In 2005 Albyn School achieved the best Advanced Highers results in Scotland. In 2006, our pupils achieved the best pass rate at Higher in Scotland.
Albyn School has an excellent academic reputation, retaining its place at the forefront of Scottish education. It is regularly placed in the top ten of all Scottish schools in terms of academic results and has been growing in size as its senior school becomes co-educational. Approximately 95% of leavers go on to university, mostly in Scotland but also to other institutions in the UK including Oxford, Cambridge and overseas.
The foundations of the School’s success lie in small class sizes, a friendly community atmosphere and high academic expectations. Extra-curricular activities are strongly encouraged with pupils being involved both locally and nationally with sports and musical activities... The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, Young Enterprise and the Literary and Debating Society are among the other prominent activities, while the value of recent expeditions for Borneo and the recent sports tour to Barbados also add to the life of the School.
