A Word from the Head

Welcome to St Columba’s, one of Scotland’s top independent day schools which was voted Sunday Times Independent School of the Year 2008. Founded in 1897, St Columba’s is a non-denominational HMC school for boys and girls aged 3-18, with a current role of 730 pupils. Pupils are presented for SQA examinations in SIV, SV and SVI, and St Columba’s academic results are among the best in Scotland. In addition to academic excellence, the School supports a full programme of musical, sporting and extra-curricular activities, allowing each pupil to develop personal confidence and skills for life. Dedicated academic staff acknowledge the individual talent and potential of each pupil, and the School ethos is one of involvement, endeavour and achievement.

St Columba’s School is situated in the tranquil village of Kilmacolm, about fifteen miles west of Glasgow and ten miles from Glasgow Airport. The School buildings and sports facilities are located within a quarter-mile radius. Transportation is arranged for pupils travelling to the School from a wide area and an after school care facility is available.

St Columba’s School has a great deal to offer your child: an excellent educational experience in a secure, stimulating environment. Bursaries are available for new pupils entering Transitus (P7), SV to study Highers and SVI to study Advanced Highers.
