Prior’s Court School is an independent specialist school for students with autism and severe and complex learning difficulties, with day, weekly and termly 38 and 44 week placements. The school aims to provide the highest quality autistic-specific education and care to provide students from 5 to 19 years with the skills to enable them to lead full and varied lives as independently as possible.

Space is a key feature of the school. Set in 54 acres, the sensory swimming pool, trampolines, trim trail and adventure playground, zip wire, swings, all-weather activity track and outdoor gym equipment and the abundant space to walk, run, cycle or play are part of the emphasis on physical exercise that is at the heart of the Prior Approach, the selection of methodologies and best practice which has been carefully moulded to suit the special needs of the students. A kitchen garden with greenhouse and polytunnel and an outdoor classroom with stableyard and paddocks support the strong focus on developing vocational skills.

Each student has a co-ordinated, individual programme of education and care with a waking day curriculum which focuses on structured teaching, therapeutic provision, communication, physical exercise, behaviour management, independence, daily living and vocational skills. This is developed with a diverse, differentiated and enriched 14-19 curriculum to provide opportunities for students to develop key personal, social and work-related skills within a college-style environment. A residential house off-site for the older students further develops vocational and independent living skills and offers a transition towards adult provision.

A large on-site therapy and multi-disciplinary team includes Speech & Language, Music and Occupational therapy, Clinical Psychologists, Registered Nurses, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Swimming and ICT instructors. The team of highly trained and dedicated staff work closely with parents, families and professionals to create a co-ordinated and consistent programme of education and care whose success is recognised worldwide.

Prior's Court also offer Young Adult provision, The Cottages, providing a transitional step towards a more inclusive life for young adults aged 16-25 and autism-specific training courses, conferences and consultancy.
