A happy and stimulating atmosphere supports the traditional values of respect, tolerance and the achievement of academic goals at Moyles Court School. We fully appreciate that what we achieve with our pupils today provides a glimpse of the adults who will shape our world tomorrow. The academic, sporting, outdoor activity and social opportunities provided involve challenge, rigour, support, hard work, fun and enjoyment...all criteria necessary for a successful adult life.
The 2009 GCSE results are testament to the schools curriculum, teachers and teaching: 100% of pupils gained 7 or more GCSEs, grade A* to C, including mathematics, English and a science. 28% of all the grades gained were A* or A grade. In a recent inspection, boarding and pastoral care were noted as a significant strength. The inspection report (ISI, November 2009) comments:
“The school is very successful in meeting its aims and aspirations within a clearly Christian ethos. It provides a caring community in which each pupil feels valued and receives individual encouragement.”
The school is mainstream and non-selective, with supportive parents who speak highly of the friendly atmosphere and positive teacher-pupil relationships. Moyles Court follows the National Curriculum and offers a broad GCSE programme. The International Primary Curriculum (IPC) is being implemented in the Junior School, reflecting the need to prepare children for life in an increasingly connected world.
With one class per year group and a strong pastoral ethos Moyles Court is a small school with a big heart. The November 2009 inspection report states: “Pupils’ social development is particularly strong among all age groups. They have well-developed self-confidence fostered by the encouragement they receive to work and play together.” An impressive range of after school clubs and weekend activities are on offer, with a growing outdoor education program.
The atmosphere is purposeful, friendly and warm. This combined with teachers who are accessible on a daily basis for informal feedback, gives an atmosphere of a vibrant village school, very much in touch with its parents. All parents want a successful future for their child(ren). Helping each pupil gain the academic qualifications, maturity, confidence and tolerance to achieve that is the reason we are here. Moyles Court does what small schools do best. Come and find out for yourselves.
