KELLY COLLEGE, probably the best small school of its type in the country and one of the leading schools in the South West, provides a high-quality, well-balanced education. It enjoys an established reputation for good academic results and for its cultural and sporting achievements. Well over 95% of our Sixth Form leavers are able to proceed to University or Tertiary education.
The sporting record of the school is very strong; Kelly has a national reputation in swimming, rugby and athletics, while hockey and netball teams have achieved county and regional success. At the same time, we are particularly proud of our music and drama. One of Kelly’s strengths is the range and diversity of its societies - recent successes in public speaking, essay and debating competitions confirm this. The Lower School activities programme offers something for everybody, from cookery to computing, from sailing to pottery. Recent developments have included the openings of the all weather surface for hockey, a new co-educational day House, Information and Communications Technology suite, and the Performing Arts Centre.
A co-educational secondary school of about 360 pupils aged 11 – 18 years, Kelly offers all the facilities of a larger school, while retaining the advantages in the individual care and class size of a smaller school. We welcome boarders, weekly boarders and day pupils. The Preparatory School is a co-educational nursery and junior school for a further 170 pupils aged 2½ – 11 years; it is a day school but boarders can be accepted into the Lower School House from the age of 9 years. The Preparatory School shares many of the facilities of the main school.
Entry to the Senior School is by examination and/or interview at 11+, 13+ and at Sixth form level. Academic, Music, Art and All-Rounder Scholarships and Exhibitions are offered annually, and are available at 11, 13 and 16 years. We have an annual Open Morning which is the first Saturday of October from 10am until 12 noon. Contact the Registrar on 01822 813193 or registrar@kellycollege.com for details.
Entry to the Preparatory School is by interview; details should be obtained direct from the Head on 01822 612919.
