A word from the head

Queen Elizabeth's is a unique school and not only because we are the only state boarding school in Devon.

We are a newly converted Academy which has specialised in Technology and Humanities for several years. We are also a Training School. In March 2009 we were judged by OFSTED as good overall in the main school and in boarding and outstanding in the Sixth Form and for our SEN provision.

We have excellent facilities for learning in a wide variety of subject areas, including well over 600 computers and 30 electronic white boards, We also have a large sports hall with a fitness suite, a swimming pool, climbing wall and the best outdoor education programme in Devon. We have a dedicated music block with practice room, computer suite and recording studio, two refurbished Libraries, a new dining hall and a new Humanities block as well as many other features which make QE an exciting and enjoyable place to learn.

There is a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere in our boarding houses, combined with excellent care from trained and dedicated staff who do their best to make sure you have the right combination of support and personal responsibility.

Queen Elizabeth's is a school with a long and proud history stretching back over 460 years. Our students achieve extremely good results at the end of their time with us. But as well as having tradition, we are also building a school for the future, committed to creating new and exciting ways of teaching and learning that make sure our students have the best chance of becoming happy and successful adults.

Located in the heart of rural Devon, we are determined to provide an exciting, stimulating and challenging learning experience for all our students in a secure and friendly environment.
