Barrow Hills is an Independent Catholic Day School for girls and boys between the ages of 3 and 13 years which warmly welcomes children from all denominations. It is set in 40 acres of attractive gardens and playing fields close to both Godalming and Haslemere. We know that as a parent you wish your child to be very happy at school as well as having a wide range of outstanding educational opportunities. At Barrow Hills we fully recognise the importance of academic success but we also value each child's development and achievements in social skills, sport, art, music, drama and many other rewarding activities. The most recent inspection report notes the good teaching and the outstanding personal development of the pupils.
The children benefit from modern facilities including a science laboratory, two computer suites and an art & design centre that provides opportunities to study textiles, ceramics, food technology, multi media and photography.
Music and drama are important aspects of school life and this is reflected in the dedicated music suite that the school has on offer.
There are regular drama productions and concerts for children of all ages using the school hall, chapel and outdoor stage. Most children study a musical instrument and there is a chapel choir, orchestra and wind band.
An impressive range of games is offered including rugby, netball, hockey, soccer, tennis, athletics and judo. The school has its own covered, heated swimming pool and Astro-turf pitch.
There are strong links with excellent senior schools and many of our pupils have been awarded scholarships.
There is a broad range of extra-curricular activities available, including horse riding, cooking, dancing, craft, sport, chess, gardening, Lego and computers. Alongside this is a comprehensive programme of educational trips and visits throughout the year, including residential trips for all the children in the Prep Department.
