Sutton High School is a vibrant and friendly community offering an excellent all-round education to girls aged from 3 to 18. Our spacious, green site close to the centre of Sutton enjoys excellent public transport links and is home to a lively school which buzzes with activity. In a school community which fosters and develops care and respect for others, girls receive a challenging and rewarding education in which they discover their own talents and interests.
Our Pre-Reception class for girls aged 3 years reinforces our commitment to ensure the continuity of education from 3 to 18 years. We offer our new younger pupils a range of structured activities, providing them with a smooth transition into Reception the following year.
In November 2006 we were awarded and 'Outstanding Ofsted' accrediation. Indeed all areas that the inspection looked at were graded as 'outstanding' which is the highest possible level of achievement.
Examination success is the passport to future opportunities, and our results at every level are well above national averages for both state maintained and independent schools from Key Stage 1 to A level. Examinations are, however, not the whole story, and girls at Sutton High School enjoy a stimulating curriculum, linked to the wider world through a structured programme of visits, together with events on site which bring actors, scientists and a range of specialists into school.
Sports, Music and Drama feature prominently among the wealth of extra-curricular activities available, and girls also benefit from being part of the Girls’ Day School Trust, the largest group of schools providing independent education to girls in the UK. Inter-school competitions and rallies involve Sutton High School in a national network of 25,000+ girls and young women, which provides challenge and educational support through school, university and beyond.
Girls are taught in small groups in specialist facilities. Teachers are all experienced specialists both in our Junior and Senior schools. Their aim is to know your daughter as an individual and to help her achieve her best in every respect. We value individuality, creativity and an enthusiasm for learning. If your daughter is keen to learn and enjoys new challenges and opportunities then we would be delighted to meet her and show her around the school. School tours are available on a Wednesday and Thursday morning by appointment. For more information or to book a tour please contact our admissions secretary Mrs J Ward on 020 825 3001 or email her at j.ward@sut.gdst.net. We look forward to meeting you soon.
