A Word from the Head
Seaford College – the inspirational environment which nurtures academic excellence, sporting success and creative talent.
Seaford College, with 620 students aged 7-18, enjoys an unrivalled position, amid more than 400 acres of rolling parkland in the heart of West Sussex. The College is only an hour’s drive from London’s Heathrow and Gatwick airports, and excellent rail connections to London from Pulborough and Haslemere. Ten different bus routes are also offered.
First class sporting facilities include an international-standard irrigated all-weather hockey pitch, a golf course, driving range and practice greens, swimming pool, large sports hall, squash and tennis Courts, as well as extensive grounds for a whole range of competitive Sports. There is a well stocked lake within the school grounds for pupils who enjoy fishing, while others can try their hand at a range of outdoor. Activities including archery, clay pigeon shooting and fencing.
The Combined Cadet Force (CCF) offers pupils opportunities for adventure training, not only on land, but at sea and in the air! All outdoor pursuits are actively encouraged and pupils develop a wide range of skills, including leadership skills and self-reliance, during their time with the CCF or as participants in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. Seaford’s purpose built Art Faculty has enviable facilities, incorporating a large exhibition gallery and specialist Art library. There are three large studios, a print-making area, a ceramics room and a darkroom for black and white and colour processing.
Music and Drama play an important part in life at Seaford. Pupils participate in at least one major production each year, learning both the skills required behind the scenes, and in front of the curtain. The internationally acclaimed Chapel Choir has been featured on TV and sung before her Majesty the Queen. The Choir is often invited to sing at prestigious occasions and performs regularly both at home and abroad.
Construction of a new state of the art Maths and Science block was completed in Spring 2005. The new Music School was completed in the Summer 2006 and work was completed in Spring 2011 on a new boys' boarding house, which will be followed by a superb sports centre and indoor swimming pool. The school has its own Learning Support Unit to assist students with Dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties. Whatever their chosen path, the College seeks to prepare young people for adult life so that they have the personal skills, confidence and enthusiasm to make it a success.
