Worth School is known for its strong community values, high academic standards, outstanding pastoral care and the excellence of its all-round education. As a Benedictine school, we encourage our pupils to develop their own individuality while living within a community that inspires learning, worship, friendship and service.

Co-education at Worth
Worth has 530 boarding and day students from 11 to 18. We welcomed girls into Years 7 and 9 in September 2010. They join other girls in an already thriving co-educational Sixth Form, and by 2012 the School will be fully co-educational. The school has invested in stunning new girls’ boarding and day houses, a new Social Centre and a new Library. An exciting £12 million development plan includes additional academic, sports and boarding facilities.

Academic Worth
At Worth, we see our pupils as ‘Lanterns to Light’. Inspiring pupils is pivotal if each individual is to develop their intellectual, emotional and spiritual potential. The school offers a broad curriculum, where students can opt for the International Baccalaureate Diploma or A Levels. Examination results are high and pupils enter the best universities in the UK and abroad, including Oxford and Cambridge.

Active & Community Worth
The wider curriculum is rich and varied. Pupils benefit from a wide range of societies, lectures, trips and visits, enriching the academic life of the school whilst encouraging everyone to aim high. Worth has a tradition of community involvement and an active voluntary service programme. The School is also a Centre of Excellence for the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and around a quarter of all students participate in the Awards.

On the sports front, the major team sports are played successfully at all levels throughout the School. Sports facilities include extensive playing fields, a sports hall, an eight-hole golf course, fencing salle, stables, dance studio and fitness suite. Sports on offer include the mainstream (e.g. rugby, soccer, hockey and netball) and the less usual (e.g. clay pigeon shooting and fencing).

Worth has a reputation for excellence in drama and music, and student tours have visited Prague, Germany, the USA and Australia. The outstanding drama and music departments are housed in the purpose-built Performing Arts Centre comprising a theatre, recording studio, sound-proofed ‘rock room’, rehearsal and recital rooms.

Scholarships
Academic, Music, Sport, Art and Drama scholarships are available at ages 11+, 13+ and 16+.

Location
The school is set, alongside Worth Abbey, in 500 acres of beautiful Sussex countryside yet only 8 miles from Gatwick Airport, 40 minutes by train from central London and convenient road and rail links to London and the South coast (30 minutes).
