From Susan Hannam, Headteacher

Thank you for taking the time to consider Lichfield Cathedral School for the education of your child. We are delighted to be acknowledged for our high standard of educational provision by the Independent Schools Inspectorate, whose most recent report states: ‘The curriculum is excellent in its breadth and flexibility… Pupils of all ages have highly positive attitudes to learning. They are eager to learn, take pride in what they achieve and persevere with their tasks.”

Lichfield Cathedral School offers an environment where each one of our students is supported individually in order to fully realise their potential. The magnificent surroundings of The Close and the beautiful countryside at Longdon enable pupils to benefit from the inspiring setting of Lichfield Cathedral and to explore our natural environment. Christian values of tolerance, compassion, charity and fellowship permeate the daily life of a child at the Cathedral School, but no-one has religion forced upon them and faith is not a prerequisite for joining the school; these are valuable human qualities that enhance the lives of those who embrace them, irrespective of their own standing on faith.

Our staff help pupils and students to find their particular strengths and hone them to a peak, whilst areas that need development are supported. Our ambition is to ensure that your son or daughter leaves us at the end of their school career as a confident and articulate young person, with the capacity to lead and the ability to work as part of team. In simple terms we want them to fill their own wings and take their own individual flight path.

We foster a sense of responsibility and understanding, encouraging pupils and students to recognise the part they have to play in the world on a local and an international scale. To this end, pupils of all ages benefit from the school's accredited Ethical Leadership course instilling an essential knowledge of 'what is right' in the minds of our future leaders. For some pupils top flight academic universities will beckon, medals and representative honours in sport for others, whilst there will be others still who will produce great art, drama or music that will feed the soul.

You may be seeking a place for your son or daughter as they take their first steps in their educational career, or perhaps beginning secondary years, or starting somewhere new for GCSE or Sixth Form. Whatever your hopes for your son or daughter, we would be delighted to meet with you to discuss how we can help on that journey towards their future success.
