Word From The Head

From Dr David Burnett, Headmaster

RSD has been helping boys and girls to fulfil their potential for over 400 years. Traditions are cherished but we are also a school committed to looking forward and embracing new opportunities. The personal development of young people is our focus and we encourage each boy and girl to learn about their favourite subjects, to find out about the world around them and to learn something about themselves. RSD is a caring community, underpinned by shared values, strong relationships and excellent pastoral care.

We are passionate about helping every girl and boy to enjoy school and to reach their potential. Opportunities to lead, take on responsibility and to operate as part of a team resonate throughout school life outside the classroom and in the wider community. Pupils are encouraged to be the best that they can be with a sense of resilience and integrity.

The values of an RSD education will stay with our pupils for the rest of their lives. I hope that the young girls and boys who first enter RSD go on to feel fulfilled personally and leave us as young adults ready for the next stage in life.

Most of all I want them to believe that RSD is their school and that they have a unique part to play in its great story.

    School Reviews

    Marie – Year 11

I enjoy Boarding School as it is a very good experience, I get to learn new skills and meet lots of new people. I love the free time that we get, I enjoy playing with my friends in the common room and using the sports facilities. If you are thinking about going to Boarding School I think you should...

    Ivan – Year 11

Since I came to RSD I have been able to find my own interests.

    Ryan – Year 12

I have gained my own independence since moving here from Hong Kong and made many new friends.
