The Duke of York's Royal Military School is a co-educational state boarding school with Academy status, for students aged 11 to 18. We welcome applications from all students who wants to study for their GCSEs and A Levels at our unique and iconic school with its historic traditions.
Some 55% of our students are from serving military families, but the school is open to all.
We have a dedicated Sixth Form centre, Centenary House where our students, after their GCSEs, move onto to study for their A levels and also to help them prepare for life at university. Centenary House offers single or double en-suite accommodation in a beautiful purpose built building.
We offer a quality education at a very good price - £14,445 per year (2019/20) or £4,815 per term.
Located near Dover, Kent (the Garden of England), we are very close to the ferry port and Eurotunnel, and only an hour's train journey from London via the High Speed Link to St Pancras International.
We are pleased to offer the increased flexibility of weekly boarding as well as full boarding. This means that with parental permission, students can opt to go home most weekends after Saturday lessons and commitments. They can return Sunday night or early Monday morning.
The school puts particular emphasis on traditional values such as courage, integrity, respect, commitment, loyalty and self-discipline as we believe it helps our students develop character and skills for life. The school often attracts amazing opportunities for our students such as the military band being invited to perform at Twickenham and The Sun Military Awards, or being included in the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall, as well as Westminster Abbey.
Our pupils enjoy many sports and activities, Combined Cadet Force (CCF) from Year 9 to 13, and have the opportunity to develop their leadership and team working skills by taking part in The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme, (DofE).
The school works in partnership with a range of different schools locally, nationally and internationally and values the diversity that these partnerships bring.
The school is non-selective, but all pupils are invited to a 'suitability for boarding' interview. We encourage you to visit us for a hosted tour of the school to answer any questions you may have.
