Luckley's Christmas Apprentice
Published by Luckley House School on Wednesday 9th of January 2013
Luckley-Oakfield School held an exciting new event on Friday 30 November 2012; The 'Luckley Christmas Apprentice'. The event was organised by AFLOS, the school's Parent Association Body and was a great success! It took the form of a Christmas Fair, but with a difference. The stalls were all run by teams of students, as part of a House competition. Each House team had a Junior and a Senior team and was given a budget of £25, with which to design, create, brand, promote and then sell a product at the Christmas Fair. The stalls were colourful and creatively presented, and sold products ranging from home-made fudge, sweets, cakes and biscuits, jewellery, Christmas decorations, to a Fun Photography session!
The competition was judged by seven independent markers, who scored each team in three categories: Team Organisation and Spirit; Stall Presentation and Final Profit. The winning teams were Beatty House Juniors, who had made beautiful Christmas decorations, including door wreaths and table decorations and had made a profit of £117.74. Beatty House also won the Senior title with very popular Friendship Bracelets, making a profit of £94.25.
Each team was presented with the Luckley Christmas Apprentice Cup.
Headmistress Jane Tudor said: 'This was the first time that the school has run the Luckley Christmas Apprentice, but I very much hope it will become an annual event. There was a great buzz in the hall and I was extremely impressed with the team spirit the girls showed, as well as their creativity and determination to win! A big thank you must go to our Parent Association, AFLOS for their hard work and commitment to supporting Luckley with events such as this.'
