WHAT WOULD YOU DO AS HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL FOR THE DAY?

ACS Egham recently welcomed Alexa Klumpen, aged nine, as Head of High School for the day, taking over the role and responsibilities of the high schools usual Principal, Richard Naylor.

Alexa, who is a student in the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme, had the opportunity to act as Head of High School for the day after her parents offered the winning bid at a charity auction, fundraising for the schools Kenya project.
Starting the day by e-mailing the High School faculty to announce her new position, Alexa was given a guided tour of the High School by her predecessor, Richard Naylor, who commented:
Alexa did a great job as Head of High School for the day. Work experience days, like Alexas, are crucial opportunities for students to learn more about the world of work and I was delighted to be the one to give Alexa a sneak preview into life as a teacher.
As Head of High School, Alexa participated in High School classes in her role as Principal, including science where she helped out with a tricky experiment and in a drama lesson, where she tested her performance skills practising a scene with other students. At lunchtime, Alexa shared the staff lounge with the faculty.
Luckily, Alexa did not have to tell anyone off as all the students were very well behaved throughout the day and especially in the classes where the new principal was looking on.
Alexa commented:
My favourite part of the day was joining in the other lessons, helping out in science and acting with the other students. It was really fun joining the teachers at lunchtime in the staff lounge and finding out what teachers did when they werent teaching.
She added:
My least favourite part was looking at the admin work and the other things you have to do as High School Principal after the school day, so I will be happy to return to being a normal student tomorrow!
