Over fifty music students, aged between 14 and 18 years, from ACS Cobham International School took part in the schools annual Candlelit Concert, performing a wide variety of music for parents and staff.

The concert involved all High School (HS) students including the HS Singers, Jazz Band and Chamber Ensemble performing a variety of musical pieces. The Candlelit Concert also provided a great opportunity for International Baccalaureate Music students to showcase the work they have been preparing throughout the year.

Held in the schools Cafetorium, the concert was organised by Zoe Lees, Head of Music at ACS Cobham, with parents invited to bring their own food and drink, creating a welcoming and picnic-style setting for the evening.

Mrs Lees commented:

The idea for the concert first came about 11 years ago, as a way of encouraging parents to attend and support the school and its students. The Candlelit Concert is my favourite event of the year as I love the relaxed setting. All the students performed exceptionally well theyd been preparing for this since August, so Im really proud of them.

Next years Candlelit concert will be held in the schools new auditorium, which will seat 500 people, part of its new Performing Arts Centre.

Darryl Nel has recently been appointed the Head of Performing Arts at ACS Cobham and commented:

The Candlelit Concert is always one of the schools most highly-anticipated events. Im really pleased with all the effort the students have put in to the show and they should all be incredibly proud of their hard work.
