Netball Tournament Winners

The Girls' netball teams at Gayhurst were very excited to host their first ever Netball Tournament at school in March. Congratulations go to Gayhurst Team 1 who finished the afternoon as Tournament winners, having won all their individual matches.

Teams from Gateway School, Long Close School, Charlotte House and York House all participated in the round robin of fixtures. The afternoon saw some excellent passing shots and superb shooting as all the teams tried hard in their matches.

The matches were officiated by visiting students from The Chalfonts Community College, who, as part of their PE GCSE, are currently working towards their Sports Leader Awards. Also officiating was a Sixth Former from Dr Challoner's High School, who, having previously completed her Sports Leader Award and GCSE in PE, is now studying for her A Level qualification.

In their first year of competitive fixtures against other schools, the Gayhurst girls have experienced a considerable amount of success and have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to take part in matches against teams from other local schools.

Head of Girls' PE and Games, Miss Coventry, said 'The Netball tournament was a terrific success with each and every player showing complete commitment in their matches. I'm especially proud of the Gayhurst girls and the fact that they won the tournament. They have all shown great dedication to the tea m this term and their skills have improved so much over the past few months. We are delighted that the other schools were able to come along to take part and look forward to hosting the event again next year.'
