St Margaret's, Calne Embrace Europe

Published Tuesday 14th of May 2013 04:15:15 PM

Everything from football, to flags representing countries from all over Europe, was the order of the day at a Calne school that took 'Entente Cordiale' to a new level.

Pupils at St Margaret's Preparatory School celebrated European Week by cooking up classic recipes from the continent; they took part in a 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire' style quiz and collected stamps in special passports. The whistle-stop tour of Europe celebrated geography and culture and also included a film festival and the chance to design a poster for next year's event.

One of the highlights of the week was a football match in which pupils from Years 3 and 4 represented Germany and France, with the rest of the school spectating and cheering on their chosen team.
St Margaret's Headmistress Karen Cordon said: 'It has been a fun and stimulating event, with the whole school embracing European culture. It provided a wonderful opportunity for the children to learn information about a range of different countries, whilst enjoying many interesting new experiences.'
