Lottie Wood, a pupil at Barrow Hills School in Witley has just won the Individual Fundraising Superstar (11years and under) at the inaugural Surrey Young Superstars 2013 Awards, held at GLIve on Wednesday 1st May. She was nominated for her award by the school for raising money for a South African charity, Elizabeth's Children, and what is particularly impressive is that she started her fundraising when she was only seven years old! She was delighted to receive the award which was presented by actor and comedian Rob Brydon. Lottie is already planning her next event, a sponsored walk, for Elizabeth's Children and is also part of a committee of children from Barrow Hills who have another fund raising initiative underway; to provide some much needed toilet facilities for girls at a school in Burkina Faso, Africa with which Barrow Hills is linked in friendship. School spokesman, Pauline McBrown said, 'We are very proud of Lottie and of what she has already done. The awards ceremony was wonderful and all the adults in the room were in awe of what these amazing young people have achieved'.
