Kingshott School opens Nutkins Nursery

Published Monday 6th of December 2010 01:33:04 PM

On Saturday 20th November, Kingshott School held its annual Open Morning, but this year was very special, it was the official opening of the new Nutkins Nursery. Nutkins Nursery has been added to the Kingshott repertoire to provide a purpose built facility for the 3 year olds, meaning that the school can now educate pupils from 3 to 13 years of age.

The nursery function has in fact been open for a year since September 2009, but has only been able to offer limited places as they have been using a room in another part of the school. So, to have a brand new, stand-alone, purpose built building on the same site as the rest of the school echoing the curved, award-winning architecture of the Pre-Prep building that was opened only a few years ago is fantastic.

Inside the building is divided into two areas; a smaller quiet area to escape from the bustle of the busy children and for small group work, and a much bigger area for art, messy play, cooking and floor play.

There is a soft play area outside for bike and scooter riding, and a grassed area too, all enclosed by a decorative fence. All facilities are appropriately sized for small children. The whole nursery is bright and colourful. The children are supported in their learning by a team of well-qualified, caring Early Years staff led by a nursery teacher.

The official ribbon was cut by Squirrel Nutkin himself with help from the children who currently attend the nursery. The Governors, Headmaster and staff were all part of the celebration.
