Published on isbi School News dated Thursday 13th of June 2013

Elliot, Captain of Boys' Athletics at King's Bruton broke a 27 year old championship record at the Somerset County Schools Championships, Yeovil.
Elliot broke the record in the 200 metres with a run of 21.98 seconds, beating the previous fastest of 22.1 seconds set in 1986.
Elliot had also broken the championship record while winning the 400 metres in 48.50 seconds, beating the previous best of 49.10 set eight years ago.
Both runs qualify Elliot for the English Schools Championships at the Alexander Stadium, Birmingham on the 5th and 6th of July.
Pip Atkinson-Kennedy, King's Director of Sport, was extremely impressed by Elliot's performances. 'He ran an incredible 400m, winning the race in a photo finish with a new championship performance, but then went and trumped this in the 200m, running another race of his life to blast the championship record that had stood for 27 years. Our Boys' Captain of Athletics was definitely leading by example.'
Elliot admitted he hadn't set his sights on beating any records. 'On the morning of the event, I was only aiming to make the national standard in the 400m. To get national standard in the 200m as well, and in two championship best performances, was a serious shock! But of course, I was delighted.'
