Over 50 students, aged 17 to 18, from ACS Hillingdon International School celebrated the achievements of their final year with a poignant graduation ceremony last week.
Attended by over 400 parents, teachers and friends, the ceremony marked the end of students' time at the school. Also streamed live online, family and friends worldwide could watch the ceremony in real time and enjoy seeing the students celebrating all their hard work throughout their school careers.

Students graduating the High School this year have recently completed their High School Diplomas, with students studying either the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IBDP) or the Advanced Placement (AP).

An internationally recognised qualification, the IBDP is highly regarded by universities around the world. The AP courses enable students to earn valuable credit at universities in North America, which are keen to accept students who show they are hard-working and committed.

Students were addressed by inspirational guest speaker, Peter Greenbury, who is one of America's most respected front-line travel news journalists, as travel editor for CBS News.

This year's cohort also elected a student speaker, William Carlsson, to present the graduating speeches. His address included a vote of thanks to the teachers, amusing anecdotes about their time at ACS Hillingdon and ended wishing everyone well in their next adventures.

Monika Howick, High School Principal, commented:

'It was a beautiful ceremony which marked and celebrated the successes, diversity, and internationalism that students experience at ACS Hillingdon.'
'It was a pleasure to share the graduation ceremony with so many of the students' friends, family and teachers and acknowledge all the support they give to students to reach this milestone. This year's cohort has made a lasting contribution to ACS Hillingdon and I hope all the students will look back at their time here with fond memories.'
This was the first graduation ceremony attended by ACS Hillingdon's Head of School, Linda LaPine, who joined the school last year.
She added:

'I felt very privileged to share this wonderful celebration of achievement with the 2013 Hillingdon graduates. Being on hand as they received their High School diploma certificates at this year's graduation ceremony is an honour I cherish. Graduation marks their years of learning from kindergarten through grade twelve and signifies the step into the next chapter in their lives. For most this means university, for others the world of work or a year of personal exploration. I wish them all the very best of luck for the future.'
