Bishop's Stortford College were crowned Hertfordshire champions at the U14 Girls' County Hockey Tournament on Tuesday 24th September at Haileybury.
In the group stage matches, the College beat Hitchin Girls' School (3-0), Aldenham (2-0) and St Edmund's College (2-0) and drew in a fiercely contested game against Queenswood (2-2).
A comfortable semi final win against Dame Alice Owen School (3-0), brought Bishop's Stortford College and Queenswood together again for the final and it proved to be an epic battle. With the score 1 1 at full time, they played 5 minutes golden goal with no result, so it went to penalty strokes to decide the winner. After the first barrage, the score was 4 4 and it went to sudden death. Queenswood missed their first stroke and Jemima Sharman stepped up for Bishop's Stortford College and coolly converted hers to win the game.

Director of Sport Lyndsay Shepherd said: 'It was an incredibly long day with lots of hard matches and the girls were exhausted. Their performance in the final was testament to their determination and team spirit as it was very obvious that they were having to dig deep to play at the level that they did. All of them were stars throughout the tournament, though Eve Leng and Amelia Harvey were particularly influential in the final.'

Bishop's Stortford College U14s are now looking forward to competing in the East Championships at Bedford in November.

The U14 team included: Hetty Cane, Amelia Harvey, Megan Brown, Anna Pilcher, Caitlin Hawkins, Jemima Sharman, Cara McKenna, Eve Leng, Alexandria Cooper, Loredana Gibilaro, Katie Champion, Isabella Darlington, Holly Radbourne.
