Hazlegrove Year 7s are challenged outside their comfort zones

Published Friday 4th of October 2013 04:15:50 PM

Hazlegrove Year 7s have just returned from the annual trip to the River Dart where they spent the week out of their comfort zones, overcoming their fears and learning to achieve through perseverance, courage, encouragement and teamwork.

They were very well looked after by the team at CRS Adventures the instructors were excellent and the food was plentiful. Indeed meal times were always abuzz with excited children (and staff!) recounting their stories of fear and personal triumphs. Whether it was Caving, High Ropes, Climbing, High Beams, Raft Building or Kayaking - everyone had a story to tell!

It is always a privilege to be able to take children on trips like these as we see them grow in confidence, become more self-aware and witness the self-realisation that I can rather than I cant. Friendships strengthen through shared experiences and lasting memories are created. We see them at their best and their worst (especially when they are tired!). We share with them the highs and the lows. As you can see from the photos, though, there were plenty more highs than lows!!
