ACS Hillingdon Lower School celebrates International Spirit Week.

Published Thursday 9th of January 2014 02:11:34 PM

Lower School students at ACS Hillingdon recently celebrated their multicultural community as part of International Spirit Week.

Students enjoyed a special assembly, which began with a parade of 33 flags, each representing one of the student nationalities from the Lower School. Also included was a special 'welcome and hello' in twelve different languages and a distinctive poster depicting 'what international spirit week means to me'.

A unique video featuring all the native countries of Lower School students was also premiered during the assembly.

Throughout the week, students dressed up in a different traditional dress each day, taking turns to display their native country costume as well as exploring the national clothing of their peers.

The week culminated in a grand finale, which included both students and teachers dressing up as their favourite world book characters.

Michelle Eriksen, Lower School Principal, commented:

'International spirit week helps to encourage our students to be internationally minded and is a wonderful opportunity for the entire lower school to celebrate its diverse multicultural community.'

'We always enjoy International Spirit Week, which I think was perfectly summed up in the hearty chorus of 'We are the World, We are the Children' at the end of our assembly.'
