Hazlegrove skiier wins British Ski Academy Anglo Scottish Cup competition

Well done to Hazlegrove pupil Michael Harvey for his recent success at the British Ski Academys (BSA) Anglo Scottish Cup competition.

Michael was competing in the Dual Slalom, where two skiers race head to head down parallel courses. Michaels route to victory was somewhat exciting starting with a three-way race-off resulting in him winning his group. Then it was on to the quarter-finals which resulted in a dead heat! Michael then went on to win the re-race, the semi-final and the final to take the U12 Dual Slalom title a great achievement in a field of 42 skiers!

Michael then went on to achieve 6th in the combi slalom and 16th in the giant slalom a result he hopes to improve in future competitions. He is just back at school for a few days before heading back to the Alps for more training and competing with the BSA with further competitions in Switzerland and Italy before ending up at Meribel in France for the British Championships. School work cannot be forgotten whilst Michael is abroad he is keeping in touch with the help of his Hazlegrove iPad!

We wish Michael luck as he returns to his ski training and for his various competitions over the coming months.
