Calvin Chapman, aged 16 and in grade ten, has recently been selected to run at the All England Schools Cross Country Championship.

Following his stirling performance at the Surrey Schools Cross Country Championships last week, where he came fifth in the Inter Boys race, Calvin will be heading to the national championships in March. Only the top eight were invited to take part at the All England Schools Cross Country Championship.

The Cougar Cross Country team had some great performances across the board, with Blake Oliver coming 25th in a field of 76 in the Junior Boys race and Georgina Myers, Indy Page-Jones, Ana Earl and Eleanor Keeler all achieving places in the top fifty in the Inter Girls race.

Calvin commented:

The best part of the race was around the 100 metres from the finish of the 5.9 kilometre run, I pushed ahead of the runner who had been pursuing me for the last kilometre. The most nerve-wracking moment was the start, as hundreds of runners lined up and when the gun sounded everyone seemed to take off like a rocket!
