ACS Cobham had a full house for its Zumbathon Charity Event last Sunday, with over 170 Zumba enthusiasts raising money for UNICEF Philippine Typhoon Appeal.

The two hour Zumba session was led by Martina Cechova, Zumba Instructor and
the ACS Dance Team wowed audiences by performing a special routine for the charity event.

In total the Zumbathon Charity Event raised 5000 amount for the UNICEF Philippine Typhoon Appeal.

Fran Bidwell, Special Programmes Coordinator at ACS Cobham and one of the charity event organisers, commented:

This was a fantastic event which pulled together the entire community from all ages to raise money to help people in the Philippines affected by Typhoon Haiyan. Martina and her guest Zumba instructors had us all partying and working hard in support of ACS Disaster Relief Funds work supporting the UNICEF appeal.

In total, the ACS Cobham Disaster Relief Fund has raised over 20,000 for the Typhoon Appeal, the largest school donator to UNICEF UK. The money raised helps go towards emergency relief as well as helping UNICEF provide learning supplies for 250,000 children and nearly 300 temporary learning spaces.

Kerry McMenamin, Public Fundraising Officer for UNICEF UK added:

Typhoon Haiyan was one of the most powerful storms ever recorded in our history and the destruction it caused affected nearly 6 million children, leaving 1.7 million of them without a home. We have over 80 staff members still on the ground working tirelessly to reach every child affected by this disaster not just with immediate aid but also with longer term solutions. We wouldnt be able to do any of this without the funds that schools like ACS Cobham have raised.
